Mount Rainier is a small town in Prince George’s County, Maryland, where Rhode Island Avenue NE (Route 1) leaves DC. It’s part of the Gateway Arts District, along with Brentwood, North Brentwood and Hyattsville.
Nearby, the paved Northwest Branch Trail follows the Northwest Branch of the Anacostia River, and the short Brentwood Levee Trail runs along its south bank. Both are good for a longer walk away from traffic.
